Itinearary
Sanitation and general behavior rules in order to participate.
Children are lined for hand washing and put on aprons and head coverings. Large groups
Involves a brief overview of what is expected of a baker. The tools an industrial baker uses compared to the tools of a home baker.
Entails groups of five or six students following the directions as a team to mix and scoop or roll cookie dough, place onto a baking sheet, place sheet on rack to go in the oven. Place soiled bowls and utensils in predetermined area.
Entails measuring the ingredients, packaging, labeling, and writing the directions for a dry mix of choice. The mix goes inside a bag that can later be used to give some of the freshly baked cookies away. This goes home with each participant.
Put aprons away, sweep and wipe tabletops. Briefly discuss keeping the kitchen free from rodents and insects.
In the café, our junior bakers savor their creations.
Our strong desire to bridge the gap between school, community, and family is what has sparked this program. Please feel free to let us know how we are doing.
